Sherry Yard Wedding - Malibu, CA

pano2

I am very honored to be able to introduce this next wedding couple to you. My relationship with Sherry is incredibly special to me and I could not be happier that she and Edward have found each other.

malibu, california

While Gabe and I were living in L.A. I had the immense pleasure of working under Sherry Yard (the pastry chef for all of Wolfgang Puck’s empire). Working at Spago with Sherry was the hardest thing I have ever done and one of the most rewarding at the same time. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but was quickly smacked with reality as I endured countless burns, long hours and the incredibly high standards that Sherry strives for and produces each and every day.

Sherry has spent her entire life working tirelessly to be where she is today, which is why I am happy beyond words that she has found the love of her life in the midst of her intense schedule. She is the most driven, creative, insightful, smart and fun person I have ever met and I am a much better person because I was able to learn from her and can call her a friend.

Nothing makes me happier to know that Sherry has found the cherry to her sundae, the apple of her eye, and the sugar to her spice. What made this story even sweeter is when Sherry called my cell phone to tell me that she found the love of her life at the dentist office! Edward just happens to be her dentist. Sherry and Edward had a beautiful wedding in Malibu, California at the home of Fred Hayman. See the images below or view the gabriel boone coffee table album for more images from their wedding day. Putting on the Jimmy Choo’s

Sherry really had an AMAZING team of friends that rock at what they do and helped out from start to finish. (We included some names and links at the end of the post.)

Final last last last minute touches before the ceremony

Yeah, I pretty much look like a goof but we had so much fun with Sherry and Edward.

Ravi Drums (Yeah, same Ravi as in Superbowl and Paula Abdul)

They’re pretty much perfect for each other

First dances of the evening

As you might imagine from a Pastry Chef, there were plenty of amazing sweet treats.

Uh,what’s better than a chocolate chunk cookie on a stick? Seriously. Totally Normal.

Not only did we leave with a box made of chocolate full of delicious cherries, everyone was also given slippers, embroidered sweatshirts (for the chilly bluff breeze) and what Pastry Chef + Dentist wedding would be complete without receiving a brand-new toothbrush on the way out the door. Thank you Sherry and Edward for having us down to California to be a part of your wedding. We have the best clients ever.

Sam + Whitney | Engagement

Right before taking off for our 1 year anniversary trip to Victoria, I met up with Sam and Whitney to shoot some engagement photos around downtown Edmonds and on the waterfront. I love it when we have such a fun time shooting that when we part we have inside jokes like "tongue" and "skookumchuck".... Which by the way is Chinook jargon for rapid water. Thanks to Whitney for that nugget of wisdom!

On this last image, I shot it with the intention of making it look like a taken with an SX-70, a sweet mid-century Polaroid camera that gives your images an iconic look.

Joel + Autumn Engaged

Joel and Autumn Engaged 001

Couldn’t wait to share today’s images. Got on the road early and rocked a sweet Engaged Session with Joel and Autumn this morning at the Everett Arboretum. Our clients rock and you make us smile. One: because we get to hang out with you, and Two: our “JOB” is making sweet images all day with amazing people.

I’m also pumped to say that Ashley (my beautiful + talented wife) has been burning up her powerbook designing out albums and helping me with workflow. It’s so fun working with her and she puts up with me tapping, humming and rocking out as we work side by side at our computers. And I apologize for some delay, but we have some smoking hot wedding images to start posting here this week so look forward for those coming soon.

Onelight Workshop Portland

I’ve been getting quite a few emails about Zack Arias’ Onelight Workshop that we’re hosting in Portland. Just thought I’d let you know that seats are filling up fast. Just by looking at their website the first date, August 13th, is completely SOLD OUT! If you’re interested in getting in on it make sure to secure you seat ASAP for the August 14th date. Also, I’m stoked to let you know that the location where the workshop is being held is totally rad. Gabe and I are big Charles and Ray Eames fans and all the chairs at the location are either Herman Miller or Eames.

As always, if you can’t make it to the workshop come meet other working photographers in Portland at the mixer August 12th. We’ll be announcing the whereabouts for that bad boy a bit later on, so throw us in your RSS reader to keep an eye out for when we post that.
