If you know my wife Ashley and I, you know that we love good food. That’s why a few months ago when I got an email from The Willows Inn (on nearby Lummi Island) with the news that they have a new head chef on board, Blaine Wetzel (from NOMA), I was pretty excited. I made a mental note to take Ashley there for dinner. Well I’m happy to say that this past week, thanks to a great local deal from RueLala.com, I was able to pick up dinner and a nights stay at The Willows Inn.
You might be wondering why I’m noting that here on our Wedding Photography blog. I’ll tell you. First, it’s a great place to celebrate your marriage. We have truly loved shooting out there for both weddings and receptions. Imagine an 11 person intimate wedding celebration followed by a private 7 course meal together. Unbelievable. Second, it’s an amazing place to eat. (Boone and I got to hang out in the kitchen and photograph while they fed us amazing bites to eat.) I’ve been on the island and talked with Willows Inn Owner Riley Starks a few times and I always come away amazed at the way they highlight regional foods.
Don’t take my word for it, check out these recent articles. We are lucky have places like The Willows Inn nestled deep in the heart of the Beautiful Pacific Northwest.

The Reveal.

(For you photo nerds, Boone helped light the group shot with a second light from up above the staircase. Brothers!)

Seattle is all about a mixture of rain clouds and sun breaks. We caught a little of both and it was epic.

The above BW shot is a new favorite ceremony photo for me. Boone captured Aries Father laying a hand and praying over his son. It’s super low light and Boone’s photo ninja skills really came through not only in a strong image but taking it while no one noticed he was there. (This is a huge benefit of having two photographers for your wedding day. Brothers!)

(If I may again mention: one brother behind the couple and one brother in front of the couple. Brothers!)

Mary and Aries had Dick’s burgers and Milkshakes delivered as a late night snack. Perfect for bringing life to the party… and a greasy ring shot.
