For the second year now we’ve had the opportunity to cover an awesome Christmas Party in Seattle. Last year Biz Markie performed and this year guests were MxPx and Barcelona. Gabe and I both grew up listening to MxPx so it was seriously rad hanging out with Mike, Tom & Yuri behind stage.

Olio United, Happy Birthday

I had the honor of photographing Olio United’s 1st Birthday this past Friday. More than just a boutique, Olio is a team of passionate people with a purpose.
“Quite honestly, we don’t believe the world needed another retail
store…it needed one with a better purpose. At Olio United, we share
stories.”
Check out their story here.
In celebration, Olio hosted a TOMS Shoes Silent Auction & Entermodal Pop-Up Factory with 100% of the proceeds going to Transitions Cambodia. My friend Leah from TOMS had me come photograph the event.

Here are Cathy & Korinne of Olio (and Katie in the middle).

Here’s Leah Albertson - check out this photo from a shoot we did back in May down in Marina Del Ray.

Here’s Leah and I (she’s a TOMS’r… and my friend!) - crazy that I can take photos with out using my hands! (thanks to Olio Cathy for that one)

…. and of course, check out the slideshow with more images.

Mr. Freeman’s Surprise Party

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot a small surprise party for none other than my Junior High Jazz Band instructor: Mr. Freeman. A few weeks back I received a call from his daughter (who was about 9 or 10 when I last saw her and is now in college) about a surprise party and I was surprised myself. I haven’t really been in contact with the old Marysville Junior High Thunderbirds crowd, but I have a lot of fond memories of Junior High and playing bass in Jazz Band. Mr. Freeman was probably one of two teachers that really influenced my life in a positive way so it was an honor providing some photography. And yes, he was very surprised.

Ashley and I attended the Urban Unveiled Wedding Show down in Seattle last night. Urban Unveiled is the brian-child of four Seattle Wedding photographers who wanted to put on a wedding event unlike any other in Seattle. We had a lot of fun meeting some very creative and talented people and enjoyed delicious food by Tom Douglas over at his Palace Ballroom. This was the first year for this event and I can only imagine it getting bigger and better while still maintaining the cozy, warm and artistic feeling of this year.
One person that I enjoyed meeting was barista Sean Lee of Seven Coffee Roasters. Sean pulls a great shot of espresso and will be your barista at any wedding or event. Sean and his team have a great coffee setup and everyone at the event last night enjoyed their coffee as well as the aroma that they provided.
Lastly, I just want to give a “Thank You!” to the whole team that put this event on, we had a great time!
