Joe Moser throwing the first pitch: Mariners vs. Yankees

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Mr. Joe Moser.
Joe is a quiet and humble man. And Joe is a hero.

I can’t fathom what WWII was like. I can’t imagine being a fighter pilot and then being shot down and captured. That is something that Joe lived. Joe’s story is incredible, please read it here.

Almost three years ago I was able to make some portraits of Joe. I had the extreme honor of being with him as he visited McChord Air Force Base the day he was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross (approximately 64 years after he earned the award as a fighter pilot during WWII). And this summer I was privileged enough to be on the field with the Seattle Mariners and recent World Series Champion New York Yankees as Joe threw out the first pitch in front of a sellout crowd of roughly 30,000 people. Here are my images from the hours before the first pitch in the Safeco Field tunnel, on the field with the players, and my son cheering on the Mariners just like I did when I was a little older then he is now. It was a very joyful day for me to experience.

Reminds me of Batman looking out over Gotham City. But with a Giant Foam Finger, Cowboy Boots and a Hoodie.
