Ratatouille Birthday Party

My son Baron and I have birthdays two weeks apart so I thought it would be fun to share a party before baby boy number two (Roman) is expected to arrive sometime in May. We had a bit of a scramble to get the house ready for guests as my wife Ashley recently took a crowbar to the kitchen cabinets. All that to say we were putting in extra hours sheet-rocking, texturing and painting the walls (I must say that Ashley actually did most of the work!! I had a pretty busy work week and she stepped up. I was up late a few nights with the heavy lifting and moving but it’s enjoyable once it’s all said and done). By the way, we found the best cups ever in San Diego (see above photo).

Mr. Freeman’s Surprise Party

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot a small surprise party for none other than my Junior High Jazz Band instructor: Mr. Freeman. A few weeks back I received a call from his daughter (who was about 9 or 10 when I last saw her and is now in college) about a surprise party and I was surprised myself. I haven’t really been in contact with the old Marysville Junior High Thunderbirds crowd, but I have a lot of fond memories of Junior High and playing bass in Jazz Band. Mr. Freeman was probably one of two teachers that really influenced my life in a positive way so it was an honor providing some photography. And yes, he was very surprised.

Commercial Photography in Portland

Besides pampering our wifes… Gabe and I like to keep busy during the week photographing local businesses and people in Portland (and Gabe in Bellingham). Since we don’t often post too many images from these different shoots, I’ll throw a few different photographs up here to show what I’ve been up to around Portland in addition to shootings weddings!

Our Engagement Shoot

jacqi & i

It really isn’t too often that you’ll catch me on the other side of the lens any more. Though, being engaged there are just some things you have to do. So, a couple weekends ago, Jacqi and I had an awesome engagement session with Gabe. We went to the town in British Columbia where Jacqi & I fell in love, Fort Langley. There was the bench where we had our first kiss in the park near the river. And the coffee shop / book store where we had our first date (she had hot cider and I had a white chocolate mocha). We spent the better half of an afternoon on a walk around town with Gabe and the results are some really spectacular images.
