Portland Bed and Breakfast Wedding

My friends Chris & Rochelle were recently married at the Terwilliger Vista House Bed & Breakfast. Their wedding was unlike any other I have attended or photographed.  Every guest was a close friend or family member who has walked through life together with Chris & Rochelle, and also contributed to the day in a specific way.  Their friend’s David & Marie came down from Seattle to prepare dinner, Gino made the wine, Mike gave a beautiful homily, Mellisa used flowers from her garden to make the bouquet, I photographed it all and Jacqi hosted our table.  There were just over 30 of us all together.

It was a delicious, beautiful, intimate, and fun celebration.

Portland Is Better Together \\ Volunteer Challenge

These above photos are taken by both Ty & myself!

Portland Mayor Sam Adams cleaning up the Glenhaven Skatepark.

On Friday my mentee Ty & I joined other local volunteers to help kick off Portland’s Corporate Volunteer Challenge.  We’re currently ranked number 2 in the nation for volunteering and we’d like to be number one!  Our friends over in Minneapolis / St. Paul better bring their A-game.  The other purpose for this challenge is to raise awareness about the variety of opportunities and needs within the community.

Among the businesses attending (like Intel, PGE, Umpqua, Regence, & Comcast), it felt great representing Gabriel Boone as the only small business.

Here I am with a giant pencil named Pete. Both Ty and I spent our time photographing the event and other volunteers.  The volunteers helped with organizing materials at Portland’s School House Supplies and then later on cleaning up the skate park next door.

Thanks for the limited edition Greg Oden bobble head Terry Porter!

Here’s a shot of Ty kickin’ it with the Mayor.

UGM Portland

I was invited to attend a luncheon at UGM Portland’s LifeChange Center yesterday.  Chatting with so many people at UGM totally refueled me.  I was encouraged by hearing stories of lives completely transformed, and being in the presence of new and old friends who exhibit the most incredible faith.

This past summer I photographed a big party at the Portland Union Gospel Mission.  My friend Rob at UGM told me that it would be a time to honor their guests, the people they serve, and really enjoy life together.  Tillamook cheese donated 500 grilled cheese sandwiches in honor of their 100th anniversary.  The UGM wheeled in music and drinks.  It all went down right off Burnside and 3rd.  I love that these photos are in color.  That they show the joy and character of people who are too often avoided and forgotten about.

Sunday Afternoon

A few snaps of my good looking wife, Jacqi, at our home in Portland.  She keeps me going.
