Smoke & Joust

I shot some album art recently (worked with some talented folks, more on this as the project comes to life) and we had some leftovers from the shoot that I thought the kids would have fun playing with. Some 9' cardboard tubes from the seamless paper and a very robust smoke machine. I think I freaked out a few of the neighbors on the new block when smoke filled their yards, but we had a blast. And as a safe Dad, I made them wear their football helmets. What could go wrong?

My Kids

I took the camera along on a routine weekday evening trip to pickup school craft supplies. The kids weren't super pumped on the idea of doing a 10 minute photoshoot so I bribed them with a trip to the candy store which perked them up. You can see Roman (blue shirt) pouting... and you can see the transformation of his attitude in the photos. Photographing families (kids and dads especially) it works well to make it fun. Sometimes that means bringing candy or treats a long. Sometimes that means the promise of pizza and beer afterwards. My job is to make timeless images that portray the fun and the love.
